After four months away from writing and social media, I’m returning with a fresh perspective, renewed energy, and a deeper commitment to The Loadout. These past months have been a period of reflection, growth, and navigating life-altering challenges that reshaped my priorities. Sometimes, life throws unexpected hurdles that force you to step back, reassess, and come back stronger.
A Journey of Growth and Change
In October 2024, I faced one of the biggest shifts in my life: being let go from Battlefield Vegas, where I’d worked for over 8.5 years. It wasn’t just a job—it was my passion. Starting as a Range Safety Officer (RSO), I had the privilege of working with a vast range of firearms, from historical relics to cutting-edge weaponry. I watched the company grow into a powerhouse, and it became a second home to me.
When I was let go, it felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. While I respect the business’s decision, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the punishment didn’t match the circumstances. Still, life is often less about fairness and more about how we adapt to the unexpected.
Determined to move forward, I sought opportunities within the firearms industry. A month later, I secured a new position and looked forward to experiencing SHOT Show 2025 as an exhibitor—a fresh perspective after years of attending as an independent journalist.
Navigating New Challenges
Unfortunately, that role wasn’t what I hoped it would be. Poor management and a toxic team environment made it impossible to continue. Despite my efforts to make it work, I realized staying would only lead to unnecessary conflict. After consulting with a trusted friend, I pursued a new opportunity.
This transition offered promise but also uncertainty. Financial stability and providing for my family remained my top priorities, and I had to make tough decisions to protect those values. For the first time since 2017, I chose to step away from SHOT Show to focus on securing a stable foundation for myself and my loved ones.
Loadout Magazine: A Labor of Love
During this time, The Loadout had to take a backseat. For years, this platform has been a labor of love—free of paywalls or subscriptions, driven purely by passion and a commitment to honest journalism. It’s a space for sharing insights, celebrating the firearms community, and blending firearms culture in ways that resonate with enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Now, I’m ready to return with a renewed vision for The Loadout. I’m bringing bold ideas to life, pushing boundaries, and elevating voices within the firearms industry. The goal has always been to create an asset, not a liability—a platform that serves the community with authenticity and purpose.
Looking Ahead: A Commitment to the Community
As I dive back in, I want to reaffirm my commitment to this community. The Loadout will remain a space for authentic voices, innovative ideas, and meaningful stories. Whether you’re a shooter, collector, or someone who appreciates the culture, The Loadout is here to deliver the insights and narratives that matter.
So, here’s to the next chapter. It’s been a journey of highs and lows, but I’m excited for what lies ahead. Together, let’s continue to push forward, grow, and celebrate this incredible community.
