Chapter 1 Trailer, Voice Cast, and Release Dates Unveiled

Yesterday, IGN had the privilege of revealing the new trailer for Watchmen: Chapter 1, its outstanding voice cast, and the box art from Warner Bros. Watchmen: Chapter 1 is an R-rated animated film adaptation of the iconic Watchmen graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

The story of Watchmen follows the history of masked vigilantes, also known as superheroes, in an alternate universe set in the early 1980s with nuclear war looming on the horizon. Comic book writer Alan Moore powerfully deconstructs the superhero tropes of the individual characters and humanizes them in a unique way, showing us how flawed, powerful, righteous, just, and narcissistic we all can be.

Here is the official synopsis for Watchmen Chapter 1 from Warner Bros.: “In an alternate world history set in 1985, the murder of a government-sponsored superhero draws his outlawed colleagues out of retirement and into a mystery that threatens to upend their personal lives and the world itself.”

The movie was produced and directed by Brandon Vietti and adapted for the screen by J. Michael Straczynski. The new Watchmen movie aims to capture the tone and visual fidelity that faithfully respects and recreates the source material of iconic graphic novel.
