Ever since its inception, the CZ Bren series of rifles has exceeded expectations, providing a well-built, feature-rich, and robust option that surprised many upon its arrival in the U.S. The Bren 805 is affectionately known by many in the U.S. as the “poor man’s SCAR.” Building on the knowledge and lessons learned with the Bren 805, CZ evolved the platform with the Bren 2. Now, CZ is proud to unveil the next evolution of the Bren rifle: the much-anticipated CZ Bren 3.
The Bren name holds a significant place in firearms history. The original Bren was an iconic and legendary machine gun used in World War II and beyond, with its design and heritage rooted in Czechoslovakia. Today, the Bren name lives on in the CZ Bren rifle series, honoring that tradition and continuing its evolutionary path with the CZ Bren 3.
The Bren 3 upper receiver is crafted from T-7075 aircraft aluminum, providing a lightweight yet robust structure. It features a cold hammer-forged barrel with a chrome-lined interior and M-Lok handguards. The combination of the hammer forging process and the chrome-lined barrel ensures solid accuracy and longevity, allowing the gun to handle the rigors of heavy usage. This design guarantees up to 20,000 rounds before the barrel may need replacement. The Bren 3 also includes a folding non-reciprocating charging handle and adjustable gas block for suppressed shooting and shooting in adverse environmental conditions. In such conditions, CZ’s Bobox and DLC finish on all steel parts effectively prevent rust and maintain the rifle’s color.
The lower receiver of the Bren 3 is made from a carbon fiber and polymer blend. This combination ensures high rigidity and strength while making the lower resistant to extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity. Potential breaks, bends, and warping become a thing of the past with this synthetic blend of materials. The Bren 3 lower is also feature-rich, offering quality-of-life improvements such as a 45-degree safety selector, bolt release inside the trigger guard, ambidextrous controls, and a clean, crisp trigger. Additionally, the pistol grip comes with an interchangeable back strap to accommodate different hand sizes.
The Bren 3 is chambered in 5.56x45mm and .300 Blackout. CZ designed and built the Bren 3 to be the most modular rifle they have produced to date. The modularity of the platform allows users to easily adjust between barrel lengths and calibers with minimal disassembly and reassembly. The rifle comes with seven QD attachment points—two in front and five in the rear. Bren 3 users can choose between a folding or telescopic stock to fit their preferred style or mission needs.
The CZ Bren 3 is poised to be a powerhouse within the piston-driven rifle market. By transforming the lineage of the iconic Bren machine gun into a modern rifle, CZ has achieved success. The Bren 3 is a well-built, robust, and modular platform capable of excelling in diverse environments and situations. The Bren series of rifles is already in use in over 20 countries, and the CZ Bren 3 is likely to expand that reach even further.
